Hey Onur, what do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I like to stay active and enjoy a good mix of gaming and spending time outdoors. I’m passionate about gaming, but I also love being outside—whether with friends, my girlfriend, or my family. It’s important for me to maintain a good balance between technology and nature!

You're training as a Process Mechanic for Plastics and Rubber Technology. What exactly does that involve?

My apprenticeship is incredibly exciting! It’s all about plastics and how they are processed. It’s fascinating to see how a simple raw material can turn into a highly complex product through the right techniques. I’m learning different manufacturing methods, like injection molding and extrusion, and how to set up machines to create the perfect final product. The best part? The products we manufacture help people and even save lives. That gives my work a special meaning!

What are your daily tasks?

No two days are the same! I set up machines, adjust them, and monitor the entire production process. Ensuring product quality is particularly important—every detail has to be perfect in medical technology. After a production run is completed, I prepare everything for the next job. I also work a lot with materials—preparing or mixing them when needed. It’s really exciting because I get to be involved in the entire production process!

How does the training work in the company? How long does it last, and what are the requirements?

The apprenticeship lasts three years, and during this time, you learn an incredible amount. In the first year, we rotate through different departments, which gives us a great overview of the company. We spend about three to four weeks in each area, learning all the key processes. A real highlight is the basic metalworking course in the training workshop—it provides a solid understanding of materials and tools, which is really helpful later on. From the second year onward, you’re placed in a permanent department where you can deepen your knowledge. If you have a technical mindset, enjoy hands-on work, and love learning new things, this is the perfect place for you!

How does the vocational school part of the training work?

I have block lessons in Rehau, which is really practical. This means I spend several weeks at a time in school and then can fully focus on work at the company again. At school, I learn the theoretical background of the processes we apply in practice. I especially enjoy learning about the properties of plastics and how to process them optimally. This knowledge is super useful when working in production!

What skills or interests should someone have for this apprenticeship?

Definitely an interest in technology and good manual skills! Understanding and operating machines is a key part of the job. You also need a keen eye for details because quality is everything in our industry. If you like hands-on work and are ready to take on responsibility, you’ll have a great time here.

Do you have any tips for those interested in this apprenticeship?

Definitely do an internship! That’s the best way to get a real sense of what the job is like and whether it suits you. And don’t be afraid to approach people—everyone here is super helpful, and you’ll be welcomed right away.
